Following yesterday's Oscar qualifying win at Animation Dingle, Mikai Geronimo & Josh O'Caoimh received the IFTA for Best Animation for their short FALL OF THE IBIS KING this evening at the 18th Irish Film & Television Academy Awards.
The virtual ceremony, which was hosted by Deirdre O'Kane, aired on Virgin Media One. Jude Hill, Lewis McAskey and Lara McDonnell from Kenneth Branagh's Belfast presented the award.
FALL OF THE IBIS KING was the directors' graduation film from the National Film School at IADT and follows the antagonist of a strange opera who becomes increasingly unsettled, following the unlikely return of the former lead actor. The film was nominated alongside Bardo (and maps and plans), Da Humbug (Flickerpix) and Memento Mori (Boulder Media).
